They are nothing like Europeans and everything like Middle Easterns
I am too old for games like this but too young to resist playing them

Their characteristics and features. Their origins were east of Constantinople before they conquered it in 1453
I am too old for games like this but too young to resist playing them

What characteristic features? The fact that they were a large multiethnic colonial empire? Sounds about as European as the rest of Europe.

So were Russians. They came East of Constantinople.

Turkey has always been much closer to the West than the rest of the Middle East. Between the Young Turks and their Enlightenment-esque ideology, the Ottoman power base in the Balkans, to Mustafa Kemal Ataturk and beyond, Turkey is very much a European country during this time period. After all, they were only a stone's throw away from the catalyst of World War One. A better argument could be made for joining them with the Balkan culture.
