.there are 2 things that PC lags when playing as Egypt (used as my playing civs or AI civs), as i guest and play this civs:
1: AI controlling caravan (30%)
2: Mass Fellah (70%)

maybe aging up as normal in african civs may follow this:
1: focus villagers for food gathering mostly, (70%) food and wood (30%) because food is used as reaching techs in library for aging up to lv2 and the second part of library, eka 2nd column library tech (for zulu, i strongly suggest that not train matriachs in age 1, because this unit is very costly (400 food) until reached some techs that make them cheaper and train faster. youth mature to villager mostly (eta 20 or 25 villager in age 1, number of villager increase by 10 or 15 per next age level) and do like i talk here, of course make them gather coin too ( for age 2 to the end, formation may this: 40% for food, 30% for wood and 30% for coin), train matriachs in age 2 because we need more youth for maturing zulu military unit), be sure to use library tech that enable building first, then enable unit, then other stuff (for zulu, reach library in this formation: enable building, then other stuff, and finally enable unit - because i don't want to mature military unit while in lower age, for example: i don't want to mature military unit while in age 1, ... )
2 (on zulu) the next thing i suggest is the tradesman, i hope if you can make youth to mature tradesman and get this available unit here for building trading post, it could be better (if you accept this, make youth mature to tradesman in age 2 or higher)
3: i haven't seen any villager gathering coin from rock, can you make them to do that....
I just use economic balancing rather than military balancing...
