Why make up fictional characters when there are historical figures who travelled the world during our timeline?

Why make up a European conquest of the world when it was historically a thing during our timline?

Hey guys.

I'm absolutely down to volunteer for the campaign with some voiceovers, map making, unit placement and text.
Can't really offer much of anything else unfortunately :(
But i have a friend/acquaintance who is good with triggers and he's into wol as well

What i think would be important to know for the campaign is how it will be done.

Compared to the vanilla campaign i think that if the WOL campaign drops cinematics (replace it with some brief historical context text or whatever), is more nation themed and a bit more linear it could work quite easily.

Personally, I'm interested in Balkan and Continental European campaigns from 1790-1918.

So like campaigns themed on Serbia (Serbian Uprising and etc), Greece (Greek Uprising and etc), Germany and so on.

Just know that we don't plan on starting this project any time in the near future.

Oh, and for the bad guys, how about the Circle of Ossus?

Actually, it is a good idea, BUT we lack the people who can work well enough with the scenario editor. Even UnstoppableStreletsy, who has quite a lot of experience with it, has little experience in making cinematics. Also, compiling a good plot will also require a lot of work, as I'm sure everyone has its own opinion on how things should go.
A fictional campaign can be perfect, if you like historically correct ones you have other games, I wish a two stories united based Reform War Campaign with a half native and half spanish male hero that was a conservative and betrayed them after Maxiliam came (I loved the Indian Campaign in TAD) and  another based in the Civil War american campaign with a blondie caucasian/white cliche cowgirl female one that will be an Unionist and they will meet in Texas as the Act 3...I'm writing a script

greetings, new member in the forum but i've been reading it for awhile as a visitor. wanted to give some feedback for whatever possible route you could take with the campaign.

as far as i read about the mod, WoL happens in a sort of alternate history scenario where for example some of the original people of the american continent seem to exist alongside the independentized colonies settled by the europeans. this means that some of the campaigns could follow historical events like the War of The Triple Alliance but there coul also be an option for some new stories based on what factions have been implemented in the game and the current timeline of the setting (the age of enlightenment all the way down to the endo of the XIX Century and possibly the start of the 20th one) for example:

campaigns based on historical events (not mentioned already)

1. The foundation of the Kingdom of Hawaii
2. The Russo-Persian War:
3. The First Sino-Japanese War
4. Greek war of Indepence

fictional campaigns (consistent with the timeline of WoL)

1. a campaign featuring an expedition to the South Pole, probably preceding Ernest Shackleton's expedition in the XX Century and adding a bit of the fictional ideas people had about the so famous Terra Australis Incognita during those times, perhaps even have some references to Poe or Lovecraft works on the Antarctic continent.

2. a campaign about Australia where the Aboriginals create a sort of coalition against the british intervention? (sounds a bit extreme to be honest, dont think the Aboriginals can actually have a civ in this case), New Guinea or even the Southeast Asian factions could intervene too in this conflict.

3. a campaign about the struggle of the Incas as they try to restore the Tahuantinsuyo after the wars of independence and the birth of Peru as a rival/ally state, it would also feature conflicts with regions like Chile as the Incas try to restore some of their territories around the Andes.

personally i think we had a proper closure related to the Black Family in the original games, specially taking in account that the main character in the end of the Warchiefs campaign retired to live with his indigenous people after the events in Big Horn. i doubt his descendants got to participate in what followed for the rest of the century.

it would be best if there was an original narrative that works in the universe of WoL, take for example what the original game does with the Chinese campaign for TAD. the XIX Century also had a lot of places to explore and there was still some mysticism about the unknown corners of the world. while a good part of the planet was being colonized or was suffering wars for territory/freedom, there were also expeditions to arrive where no men had gone (specially the poles). even the mention of lost continents were still flying around.

Great ideas yes butt for a mod that promises Great War, I would stick purely to that time frame. Evertyhign leading up to it and maybe some eepilogues on the after math, not manyt though. The great thing about the Great War is that its global so it would be very easy to do what oE III did and set up the regional camaigns, and then theindividual civs. I would stick to the three most important and influnetial civs considering we dont want to make the mod too large and set the bar too high where itll never get done. Start with 3 civs campaign for (in this exact ordeer to be different and fresh from AoE III) 1: Latins Nativs Anglos 2: Euros Balkans Africans (albeit queastionable) 3: Middle East Asians Pasifikas(pacific Islanders aka polynesia even though polynesia is 1/3 oceana and not technically the colloquial for pacific islanders but details) And relase the campaign in stages as I suggested to keep the game fresh and make the work load easier. Again, focus on the great war iff possible. These games as I see it are a progression through hsitory and it would be not as amazing if we kept jumping time periods. Im sure AoE III wanted to do a lot of things but such is game deveelopment. Not every idea will be implemented.

I highly suggest doing the campaign this way but if you have any differing opinions well this is a forum after all. It's also good to know that we arent just speculating and talking and that these discussions are meaningful and work is getting done.

I would suggest the Austro-Turkish war as a campaign (sorry for my English (this is not my native language)).

EDIT: Kokand expansion is also an option.
