Play on Linux and the future of Wol on non Windows os's

Thu Nov 23, 2017 2:57 pm

You may or may not be aware that Age of Empires 3 is now a supported software on playonlinux for those that use a linux OS. However, it seems that the playonlinux server cannot be reached when using a linux distro off of a virtual machine. This is where you people come in. If one of you uses a Linux os like Ubuntu, Mint, or anything with the playonlinux app available, consider trying to install the base aoe3 and tad using the option in the supported software window. If any of you are successful, I would like to hear about it here, since it would finally provide a permanant method of installing wol on a unix-like os as wine to some extent has broken down in the latest Osx versions. If anyone can get aoe3 working via playonlinux, I could show you how to install wol.

The only other alternative I have thought of is trying to install wol to the macsoft version of aoe3 using wine. However, I think you would still need a osx version of the ai hotfix for it to work as intended which is unavailable currently.
